Community Benefit

As a member hospital of BJC HealthCare, we provide community benefit programs that enhance the lives of the people in our community.

What is a community benefit program?

  • Providing free health care to those in need.
  • Encouraging an active lifestyle and healthy eating for the young and old.
  • Providing educational and research opportunities to future doctors, nurses and other health care professionals.
  • Delivering vaccinations to protect one another from illness.
  • Giving support to young people who have lost a loved one.
Community benefits are programs or activities that provide treatment and/or promote health and healing as a response to community needs.

In 2012, BJC and its member hospitals and health service organizations provided more than $570.3 million in free medical care, education of health professionals, medical research and community outreach efforts.
