The Patterson family made quite an impression Feb. 23, 2016, when they competed on “Family Feud.” So much so that you can see them in a “Hall of Fame” episode airing Nov. 5, at 6 p.m., on KDNL-ABC 30.

The Pattersons have BJC ties. Sheila Patterson works in environmental services at Christian Hospital, and Pat Hill, RN, works in the Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital emergency department.

Ten families, whose appearances received the most views, were selected to go to Los Angeles in June and film the “Hall of Fame” series. The Pattersons - Sam Patterson, Cecilia Harris, Sheila Patterson, Yolanda Doyle and Pat Hill - generated more than five million views on their initial appearance. Sheila Patterson was a little nervous their first time and host Steve Harvey had some fun at her expense, which went viral. This also landed Sheila Patterson an appearance on the “Steve Harvey Television Show” during an episode of “All Stars Family Feud.”

But no hard feelings from Sheila Patterson. “Steve Harvey, of course, brought up some things from the first visit, but he was awesome,” she says. “He was still just as funny, kind and entertaining.”

If you didn’t know, “Family Feud” is a television game show hosted by comedian Steve Harvey, where families compete to name the most popular responses to survey questions for cash prizes.

Initially the Pattersons auditioned in November 2014, in memory of their mother, who loved the show. As children, the four sisters were part of a tap dancing troupe, so they incorporated tap into their audition tape.

Six months later they received a call that they were selected. In late July 2015, they headed to Atlanta, Ga., for taping. “It was the experience of a lifetime,” Hill says.

The trip to Los Angeles this past June for filming also was rewarding. “It was so fun to go to LA, some of us had never been,” Hill says. “While we were there we even got to see some first cousins for the first time. We had a huge reunion. That made it an even better trip.”

In their first appearance, the Pattersons won the first day, and made it back a second day. As for how they did this time, they can’t divulgue until after their show airs. “I felt less nervous the second time, but it was more challenging,” Hill says. “The competition was friendly but at a higher level, it felt like the World Series.”

Win or lose, the experience was worth it. “It was an honor that they thought to call us back to be part of the special Hall of Fame of Family Feud,” Sheila Patterson says. “It was a great experience and we had a good time mingling with other families, the Family Feud team and Steve.”

“It was really fun,” Hill adds. “There was lots of energy between the families. It was special.”
