Insurance Coverage for Outpatient Diabetes Education and Nutrition Counseling Services
While there is typically a fee charged to receive Diabetes Education and Nutrition Counseling services at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, many health insurance plans cover this cost. Because health insurance coverage varies greatly, we suggest that you or your physician's office contact your health insurance company regarding coverage. Please note, at this time, Medicare will only cover nutrition counseling for diabetes and kidney disease.
It is your responsibility to contact your insurance company regarding coverage or prior authorization for any outpatient diabetes and nutrition counseling services requested by your physician.
