The Siteman Cancer Center and Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital are providing free skin cancer screenings.
Who Should be Screened?
Overexposure to the sun can have dangerous effects, so what can you do to protect yourself from harmful rays, and what are the warning signs to determine if you already have damage? Join Dr. M. Laurin Council and Washington University dermatologists on May 19 for a free skin cancer screening.
What to expect at this screening
The screening will include a full body exam in a private room and gowns will be provided. You are not required to undergo the complete exam if it is not desired; instead you may just have exposed areas of concern examined.
- Upon arrival you will fill out some paperwork and be escorted into a waiting area.
- Coffee, tea and water will be available.
- When a physician is available, you will be taken into a private room.
- You will spend about 8 to 12 minutes with the doctor, but depending on the turnout you could be at the event for over an hour. Please anticipate longer wait times during the first few hours of the event.
- Participants will receive a copy of their screening form. It is up to the patient to mail the screening form to their physician so it can be placed in their personal medical record.
Appointments are not available for this free screening and the exam is offered on a first come, first served basis. If you are under the age of 18, you must have a legal guardian present.
