U.S. News Ranks Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital #4 in St. Louis and High Performing for Orthopedics and Gastroenterology

July 17, 2012 – Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital has been ranked #4 in the St. Louis Metro area and #8 in Missouri by U.S. News & World Report. U.S. News also ranked the hospital as high performing in orthopedic services and gastroenterology. This is the second year U.S. News has ranked hospitals within a metro area. In 2011, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital was ranked number 11 in the St. Louis Metro area.

The rankings are meant to identify community hospitals that performed nearly as well as the nationally ranked “Best Hospitals” in at least one of 16 adult specialties. The 2012-13 guide to “Best Hospitals” is available online at http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals.Highlights of the rankings also will appear in the U.S. News Best Hospitals 2013 guidebook, available on newsstands in August.
