Breast MRI

MRI of the breast is a tool for imaging breast implants, and detecting cancer or other breast abnormalities. It is recommended that women with breast implants have a breast MRI screening every three years.

Breast MRI can also be used as an upper level diagnostic tool to assist with detecting and staging breast cancer and other breast abnormalities.

Patients lie face down with breasts positioned into cushioned openings. The openings are surrounded by a breast coil, which is a signal receiver that works with the MRI unit to create the images. The exams are done on the 1.5 tesla short bore MRI.
