June 15, 2009 ST. LOUIS, MO - Marianne Fournie, RN, BSN, MBA, has been named the Chief Nurse Executive of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. This new appointment places Fournie on Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital's leadership team where she will mentor and lead the nursing staff to continue a tradition of providing excellent patient care. "Marianne will work closely with our medical staff and promote the skill and expertise of our nursing staff," says Larry Tracy, Chief Operating Officer of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. "She is a progressive and accomplished leader who will take best practices from across BJC to develop programs adaptable to Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. As we offer a wider platform of services and provide care to patients with more complex illnesses, Marianne will play an important leadership role to enhance our clinical practice." Fournie brings more than 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry to Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. She most recently served as Corporate Director, Patient Care with Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis, Tennessee. In this role, Fournie oversaw the strategy and operations of Emergency Services, Critical Care, Telemetry, Neurosciences and Obstetrics across the seven facility, 1,805-bed healthcare system. Prior to her position at Methodist, Fournie served in several nursing and leadership positions with SSM St. Mary's Health Center. Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital is organizationally and strategically aligned with Barnes-Jewish Hospital and is a member of BJC HealthCare. Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital is an 84-bed facility conveniently located in west St. Louis County just one mile west of I-270 on Olive Boulevard at Mason Road. The hospital is comprised of over 550 physicians, offering a unique model that is a mix of both community and academic physicians. Washington University physicians, who are also on staff Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital in the Central West End, have expanded their practices at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, with 172 adult and pediatric faculty. In 2008-2009, more than $17 million was invested in Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital for advances such as a 64-slice CT scanner, a new cardiac monitoring unit and an additional location for the Siteman Cancer Center, including a linear accelerator for advanced radiation treatment.
