Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University
School of Medicine recently moved to a new facility on the campus of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, providing comprehensive care in the community for cancer patients in West County.

The beautiful new facility allow patients to receive expert care and services-such as chemotherapy, radiation oncology (new in spring 2009), and innovative clinical studies-closer to home. The new facility, located on the campus of Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, was constructed with the patient experience in mind and features soothing interior surroundings and amenities.

The facility, which encompasses the entire first floor of Medical Office Building 2, was designed in part by patients to ensure a warm, friendly, and comforting environment during the course of cancer treatment.

Clinical Studies
Siteman-a designated National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center-also provides patients in West County with access to new medications and therapies through participation in clinical studies. These studies allow patients to receive the most current advances in therapy and offer hope when other treatment options have been ineffective.

New Additions
In March 2009, Siteman began offering radiation oncology services at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital thanks to the addition of a linear accelerator. This technology delivers precise doses of radiation to destroy cancer cells while sparing healthy surrounding tissues.

In addition to implementing new technology, Siteman has also improved treatment areas for patients. Patients will find 28 chemotherapy infusion chairs, as well as family waiting rooms and consultation rooms complete with wireless Internet access. This additional space provides an area for education and support groups, which are extremely important for patients who are learning to cope with or recover from cancer.
