City of Creve Coeur Approves Site Development Plan for New Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital

March 20, 2017

On March 13, the City of Creve Coeur approved the Site Development Plan to replace Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital (BJWCH). After nearly two years of planning, contractors expect to break ground soon.

“We are very excited to share the vision of our beautiful new facilities with our community,” says Trish Lollo, president, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. “The design team has worked closely with our physicians and staff to create a modern patient care environment that will allow our clinicians to continue providing the very best care, and support the needs of our patients for years to come.”

The new hospital calls for 64 private patient rooms, four intensive care unit rooms and 14 operating rooms. An adjoining medical office building will facilitate access to hospital services. The replacement hospital is being designed to accommodate current demand and future growth. The new facilities will be constructed on the existing Creve Coeur campus.

The new facilities will continue BJWCH’s focus on providing short-stay surgical and medical care, including colorectal, gastroenterology, joint reconstruction/replacement, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, plastics, spine, thoracic, urology and vascular surgery.

“The patients at our BJC hospitals deserve exceptional care in a comfortable and healing environment that is also convenient,” Lollo says. “The new facilities are designed with these objectives in mind.  We value the engagement of Mayor Barry Glantz and our elected officials in this process and are committed to continue our mission of improving the health of our community.”

The new hospital will open in 2019.  Project updates will appear on www.BJCConstruction.org/BJWCH
